Reporting independent expenditures

August 5, 2024

If you make independent expenditures in connection with an upcoming election, you may trigger special reporting obligations. Political committees and other persons that make independent expenditures may have to disclose this activity within 24- or 48-hours of public distribution or dissemination based upon the date and amount of the expenditure.

Detailed reporting instructions are available on our reporting pages for PACs, parties, SSFs and other filers. Additionally, the FEC will be hosting an Independent Expenditures Webinar on September 11.
