National Convention Delegate FAQ

May 1, 2012

Every four years at this time, we begin to receive calls asking about the reporting requirements and contribution rules that apply to national convention delegates. Individual delegates are not required to register or file regular reports of the funds they raise and spend for their personal delegate activity; however, delegates acting as a group may have to file reports as a delegate committee. In regard to rules for contributions, there are no monetary limits on contributions made to individual delegates, but delegates may not accept contributions from any source that is prohibited from making contributions in connection with federal elections (e.g., corporations, labor organizations and foreign nationals).
