FEC LAUNCHES UPDATED WEB SITE

WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has redesigned and streamlined its Internet Web site, which can still be accessed at www.fec.gov .

The primary purpose of the revamped Web site is to reorganize the site''''s growing body of material to offer the most efficient presentation of relevant and appropriate information to various audiences, including the general public, candidates and their campaign workers, and the media.

Design features including “fly-out” cascading menus, “bread crumb” navigation headings, and a site search function will help users find the information they need. Other information has been reorganized or added to the site to make it more useful. Additions include FEC audit reports regarding campaigns or committees as well as a complete and interactive calendar of events and deadlines. Commission news releases have been grouped by topic to improve access to summary campaign finance information, enforcement actions, and other Commission actions.

The Commission received helpful input and suggestions from a variety of individuals and organizations in developing the new design.

In announcing the launch of the new web site, FEC Chairman Bradley Smith said "This is a wonderful, user friendly website that enhances the transparency of campaign finance. It represents another part of the Commission''''s ongoing effort to provide rapid, comprehensive disclosure of information that is vital to the public''''s understanding of, and confidence in, our nation''''s laws government campaign financing."
